I ask Marta Guadalupe Figueroa to tell her story, the one that leads to her celebrating her first Fourth of July as an American citizen.
“I’m just going to go in circles,” replies Figueroa, better known as “Lupita.”
I already know from Lupita’s reputation that she will not. There’s a reason she’s been the officer manager at Building One Community (B1C): The Center for Immigrant Opportunity, in Stamford for the past seven years.
