Building One Community Looks to Develop Leadership to Make an Impact thanks to Impact Fairfield County Core Mission Grant

Awarded grant to propel staff training to prepare the organization for rapid growth

Stamford, CT - The Building One Community team can expect a new comprehensive leadership training program to begin this year, thanks to a $50,000 grant from Impact Fairfield County.

"We are incredibly grateful to Impact Fairfield County for this opportunity! Our team has been working around the clock to support a vulnerable community during the current Pandemic. We can't wait to see our team continue to flourish and develop important skill sets to make significant contributions to our community," said Catalina Horak, Executive Director.

As B1C transitions from a young organization with incredibly rapid growth to a mature and sustainable organization, they are now more than ever committed to creating a culture of learning and leadership development. This generous grant will create a new professional development framework for every member of the B1C staff.

In partnership with The Strategy Group LLC, led by nonprofit strategy expert Debra Hertz, B1C will work with staff on multiple levels, from executive to line staff, to develop highly competent and ethical leaders with advanced knowledge and skills in nonprofit management. This 24-month leadership development program will define and sustain a culture of learning and professional development, cultivate strong internal leadership, and be an investment in the social sector by preparing future leaders.

"The entire staff is thrilled to be part of a new leadership training program.  We have a lot of work ahead of us as we battle COVID-19 issues. Leadership development for all team members is more important now than ever before," said Anka Badurina, Senior Program Director.

Every team member at B1C has a culturally rich background, offers unique perspectives, and makes valuable contributions. They are excited to take advantage of more professional training to support all of their efforts and continue to make a positive impact on the broader immigrant community.

About Impact Fairfield County
Impact Fairfield County (IFFC) was founded in 2015 by Wendy Block and Vicki Craver and is based on the national Impact 100 model of collective giving. The goal was to gather at least 100 women in the area to pool their contributions to make significant philanthropic investments in local non-profits. Today, Impact FFC boasts 243 members and counting.

Now in its fifth year of giving, Impact FFC is poised to surpass $1 million in grant funding, including eight $100,000 Impact FFC Grants to local nonprofits in support of new projects or the significant expansion of existing programs benefiting underserved residents of Fairfield County. Through these transformational grants, Impact FFC is significantly improving the lives of those in the community and providing a meaningful platform for women to learn about local needs, assess which non-profits are equipped to best address those needs, and educate themselves about how to most effectively put their philanthropic investments to use.

This grant to B1C is Impact FFC's first Core Mission Grant and is in honor of their 5th Anniversary of transformational giving in Fairfield County.
