Community Center celebrates Reading Program with Stamford Schools
Stamford Patch
STAMFORD — Building One Community - The Center for Immigrant Opportunity recently wrapped up its 6th annual Summer Reading Program for elementary school families in the Stamford Public Schools system. The program significantly helps prevent the "summer slide" largely experienced by immigrant children and helps improve English Language skills for the coming school year.
This program is a unique activity for families. While many summer programs engage only youth participants, parents join their children side by side for the entire Summer Reading Program. Both generations of the family enjoy an integrated learning experience and practice English reading comprehension and speaking skills.
