In photos: Pumpkin picking for charity at Stamford’s St. John’s Lutheran Church

STAMFORD — A perfect day for the perfect pumpkin.

St. John's Lutheran Church is holding its annual "Pumpkins for a Purpose" sale to benefit Building One Community, Pacific House, and Family Centers Literacy Volunteers Program. On this day, the weather was perfect, the pumpkins were plump and colorful and kids and adults enjoyed the trip. The church, 884 Newfield Road, Stamford, imported more than 2,400 pumpkins for the sale, which will be ongoing seven days a week through Oct. 31.
