Classes are taught 5 mornings a week from 9 to 11 am, Saturdays from 11 am to 12:30 pm, and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 pm.  All our classes are drop-in, and run throughout the year, with 2 weeks off at the end of August and December.  We also offer tutoring sessions, where smaller groups of clients meet in a more informal setting.

Our ELL classes are taught following our own 13-theme curriculum, which changes every week and provides recent immigrants with practice to feel more comfortable living and working in the United States. 

Our teaching volunteers can come for one or several classes per week, so you may have different teachers on different days of the week. While the teacher might not be the same for every class, the course follows a set time frame and curriculum

Our ELL weather-related class cancellation policy  is:

1. If Stamford Public Schools are cancelled due to weather, all ELL classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening at both the Yerwood Center and Shippan Ave. are cancelled.

It's important to note that if Stamford Public Schools cancel school and then the weather clears up by the afternoon, evening ELL classes at B1C will still remain cancelled. Changing up our decision in the late morning or early afternoon to reverse a cancellation is time consuming and can result in confusing messaging. So, a cancellation made in the morning will hold, even if the weather improves later in the day.

2. If Stamford Public Schools have a delayed opening due to weather, all morning ELL classes and tutoring sessions at the Yerwood Center and Shippan Ave. are cancelled. ELL classes in the evening will be held at both locations in the case of a delayed school opening.

3. If Stamford Public Schools end the school day early due to bad weather, all evening classes at both the Yerwood Center and Shippan Ave. are cancelled.
