For much of his adolescence, Anthony Barroso had a clear understanding of his limitations.
A bank account and driver’s license were not in his future. Working legally, too, was not realistic because of his immigration status.
Until he was in his early 20s and then-President Barack Obama issued the 2012 executive order creating the program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, this was the reality for Barroso, who left Ecuador for Connecticut to reunite with his parents when he was 9 years old.
