Marissa Muñoz Joins B1C As Their New Executive Director
Today, we’re excited to share wonderful news — Marissa Muñoz officially joins Building One Community as our new Executive Director.
Marissa brings more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience and a deeply personal understanding of the challenges facing Latino and immigrant communities. Growing up as a Mexican American in South Texas, not far from the U.S.–Mexico border, Marissa saw how systemic inequities impact families across generations — experiences that shaped her lifelong commitment to equity and creating pathways to opportunity and belonging.
Most recently, Marissa served on the senior leadership team at New York Road Runners, where she led youth and community programs serving more than 140,000 participants each year. Throughout her career, she has built strong partnerships, grown organizations, and advocated for underserved communities — including leading education equity efforts through her work at Hispanic Federation and Young Invincibles.
Marissa is excited to listen, learn, and work alongside our staff, participants, volunteers, and partners as we continue building on B1C’s strong foundation. Her background and values closely align with our mission, and we’re confident she will help guide B1C with care, continuity, and vision as we move into our next chapter together.
Please join us in giving Marissa a warm welcome — we can’t wait for you to meet her.
Thank you for being part of the B1C family.
Warmly,
