CBP Raids Aid Camp – CBP Hace Una Redada en Campamento Humanitario
CBP arrested four migrants seeking aid at a humanitarian aid camp on the Arizona border. The camp, which has existed for ten years, provides emergency medical assistance and food and water to migrants crossing the border—a service that is particularly important as Arizona’s heat wave swells above 100 degrees. On June 15, 30 armed CBP officers surrounded the camp, leading to a three day standoff as camp organizers demanded a federal warrant. After the warrant was obtained, the officers entered the camp and seized the men. Volunteers fear that this raid will deter future migrants from seeking humanitarian assistance during their trek across the desert.
