Les projets de loi sur l'immigration
Kate’s Law, a law imposing harsher punishments on immigrants who were previously deported and returned to the United States illegally, and the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act, which cuts off some Federal grants to Sanctuary Cities that do not work with ICE, passed the House in late June. The bills are the first tangible legislation attempts for the Trump administration’s anti-immigration push, but their passage in the Senate looks unlikely. Speaker Mitch McConnell has not yet committed to even bring the bills to the Senate floor. Other, slightly different versions of the bills were defeated last year. Despite the different administration and political landscape, the bills’ passage in the Senate seems unlikely.
